About
Your Tyne Tunnel is a grassroots campaign group providing an independent voice for customers using any of the tunnels under the Tyne.
Formed out of frustration at the poor service given to customers, and from listening to many tales of hardship or stress inflicted by a process which is often inept, inflexible and without independent appeal.
We want to change that by engaging positively with both the tunnel operator (TT2 Ltd) and the relevant committee and officers from the Local Authority body (North East Combined Authority -Tyne and Wear Transport Sub Committee) to provide the 'voice of the consumer' which to date appears to be largely drowned out.
To note:
-
There is currently no independent appeals panel external to TT2 in the published appeals process. (As at 1st July 2021)
-
TT2 Ltd keep all revenue from enforcement action they take.
-
There is currently no recognised lay member(s) on the above committee, nor a recognised user group. (As at 1st July 2021)
We aim to campaign to help change these!
Our campaign message is very simple:
-
We call for an independent appeal panel external to TT2 in relation to Unpaid Toll Charge Notices (UTCN) and we offer to either run that or constructively assist with the creation and monitoring of it.
-
That TT2 Ltd and NECA invite a representative from this group is able to attend as a 'lay member' to their committee meetings, contract monitoring reviews and other such significant events to provide the 'voice of the consumer'.
-
Call on Officers and TT2 employees to work closely with this group, to understand where process improvement can rapidly be made to both prevent poor consumer relations, and which will also save TT2 time and money in making their internal processes more efficient.
