Subject Access Request

Your Tyne Tunnel is a grassroots campaign group providing an independent voice for customers using any of the tunnels under the Tyne.

This information is based on either published sources available in the public domain or gathered from other users, our opinion is our own, you should make your own decisions as to whether you should appeal or pay your UTCN.

Here’s the standard wording you need to submit a Subject Access Request - extracted from the Information Commissioner's Office website:

Remember to be as accurate as you are able to in terms of date and time and direction of travel so as to not be unreasonable.

It is ok to request multiple journeys on the same request if you have multiple UTCNs issued to you, however again the ICO rules say these should be reasonable.

Please supply the personal data you hold about me, which I am entitled to receive under data protection law, that is held in your CCTV system or contained within the computer hardware used to process, store, manage, divulge to 3rd parties or that data which has subsequently been deleted from these computers, specifically relating to this location and time period:

Footage of my vehicle being driven by myself [COLOUR MAKE MODEL] registration [AB12 XYZ] , distinguishing feature [IF ANY LIKE ROOF BOX.]
CCTV camera situated at general South Bound [UPDATE TO WHICH WAY] Toll Plaza Approach Area on [JOURNEY DATE] between [16:00 and 16:10] [UPDATE TO REQUEST A FEW MINUTES EITHER SIDE OF YOUR UTCN TIME} showing journey from A19 through Toll Plaza and into [STATEWHICH] bound Lane [PUT IT IF YOU HAVE UTCN] and into Tunnel Entrance.
CCTV camera footage monitoring approach to and passage through [STATEWHICH] Lane [PUT IT IF YOU HAVE UTCN] during the same time period, showing front and rear of my vehicle and the lane equipment and signals including any signal remaining from previous vehicle (with their registration obscured by you)
All still camera images taken at [STATEWHICH] Lane [PUT IT IF YOU HAVE UTCN] during the same time period, where you mask out registration marks of any previous vehicles but show the camera sequence immediately prior to [TIME OF UTCN TRIGGER] including that of the traffic signal status.

It may be helpful for you to know that data protection law requires you to respond to a request for personal data within one calendar month.
