UTCN Appeal Information
Your Tyne Tunnel is a grassroots campaign group providing an independent voice for customers using any of the tunnels under the Tyne.
This information is based on either published sources available in the public domain or gathered from other users, our opinion is our own, you should make your own decisions as to whether you should appeal or pay your UTCN.
From Monday 8th November 2021 the new Tyne Pass system kicked in, we've been assured that many of the historical issues will not happen with the new ANPR cameras and the removal of the toll plazas. So some of the topics may not apply to you after this date, equally if you travelled before this date some of the later advice will not apply to you. Whatever date you travelled you can see that the tunnel operator have some fundamental flaws in their systems!
Our strongest advice for you to move forward is to sign up for a pre-paid (or exempt) account if you are able to, make sure you have credit on your account or you pay in good time if you do not have an account - remember you can pre-pay even if you do not use the pre-paid account.
Make sure if you have an account that you turn on the low balance notifications (in the settings part) or turn on auto-top up. If you have these in place there is 100% no excuse that TT2 can pin a fine on you if you have entered the correct vehicle registration and the funds are in place.
We'll continue to update this information as the new system beds in and we can see what new issues motorists are facing.
